A potted orchid is a gift that stays: it does not wilt in three days like a bouquet and, with a little attention, it blooms again. Klumba Flores is a florist we are setting up in Montevideo, and orchids will be among the plants you can order.
We have not opened yet. This page explains which orchids we plan to offer and how ordering will work. We have no products or prices published, and we would rather say so plainly than show you something that does not exist. If you want to hear the day we open, leave your contact in the form below.
Which orchids we will offer
A widely used orchid in gift pots is the Phalaenopsis, also called the moth orchid. It has large, flat flowers on an elegant spike, and it is the easiest choice for someone who has never had one. Depending on what we can source, we will work with:
- White orchids: calm and bright, they suit any room and almost any occasion.
- Pink and violet orchids: more cheerful, for a gift with personality.
- One or two spikes: one spike is a neat small gesture; two or more make a fuller plant.
- Other types, subject to availability: such as Dendrobium or Oncidium, for those who want something different. To get to know them, read our guide to orchids: care and types.
Presentation
Each orchid will come in a pot or cover pot, wrapped so it arrives undamaged, with a card carrying your message if you wish. We will also include simple watering and light instructions, because most orchid problems start with too much water.
Who an orchid suits
- Birthdays and anniversaries for someone who prefers a plant to a bouquet.
- A new home: a move or a newly furnished flat.
- Thank-you and work gifts: a white orchid looks restrained and elegant.
- People with little time: it does not need daily attention, but it does need a bright spot.
- Yourself: a plant on the table changes a room.
How delivery in Montevideo will work
We will deliver to your door in Montevideo, with clear zones and time slots you will see before confirming the order. You will also be able to collect your orchid at the shop. Because plants are delicate, we will pack them carefully and arrange delivery so they do not wait outside for hours. If you are abroad and want to send an orchid to someone in Montevideo, the process will be the same: order online, add a card and we deliver. If the gift is a surprise, you will be able to name the recipient and leave a message.
For busy dates such as Mother’s Day, it is best to order a few days ahead.
First care steps
Put the orchid somewhere with plenty of natural light but without strong direct sun, and water only when the growing medium is dry. If in doubt, it is better to give too little than too much. The guide explains the rest, including what to do when the flowers fall.
